My journey began in Lipa City, Philippines, before my family and I made Canada our home in 2011. As a travel nurse working 120+ hours every two weeks across Canada and the U.S., I poured everything into caring for patients. But working double shifts taught me a hard truth: health crises don't wait for a convenient time, and too many families face devastating financial stress on top of illness simply because no one explained financial protection beforehand.
Everything changed when my spouse and I welcomed our daughter into the world through an incredible surrogacy journey. Holding her for the first time, I realized I couldn't continue a path that kept me away from home for long weeks. I didn't just want to provide for my family—I wanted to be present for them.
A conversation with a nursing colleague introduced me to insurance planning, tax-deferred investments, and retirement strategies. Taking control of my family’s financial future gave me the peace of mind and time freedom I’d always dreamed of.
That transformation inspired me to become a licensed insurance advisor and launch @theNurseAdvisor. Today, I bring the exact same bedside care, empathy, and advocacy from nursing into financial planning.
